About the Play

FINDING MOWGLI is the true story of Matt, who moves from Denver to New York City to pursue a career in acting. When things don’t quite turn out the way he imagined, Matt begins to take jobs wherever he can. He suddenly finds himself directing a group of kids with special needs in their first ever musical, The Jungle Book, and winds up learning more than he ever thought possible. It is a story of heartbreak and heroism, laughter and loneliness, Inclusion and integrity. 

 

FINDING MOWGLI was first presented as a staged reading at The Drama Bookshop in New York City in January of 2017. It was then presented for two nights as a workshop production at The Peoples Improv Theater in July of 2017, and was directed by Vivia Font. In both instances, the role of Max was played by Matt Zambrano.

About the Playwright


Matt Zambrano is an award winning actor, playwright and teaching artist who hails from Denver, Colorado. He received his MFA in theater from the prestigious National Theater Conservatory, and currently lives and works in New York City.
